The Venezuelan speed skating team arrived in Tolima with great enthusiasm for what will be their participation in the youth and senior categories of the world championships, which will be run on the recently adequate track of the Municipal Sports Park of Ibagué, from November 6 to 13.

Venezuela, always an entertainer and with great skaters, is the one that has followed the footprint left by the current champion, Colombia, where many of its skaters are preparing constantly and competing in national and regional events held in the country, which allows them to improve their level and face the World Cup event with optimism.

The delegation is aiming for a young team, clearly betting on a renewal that will allow them to return to their glory days. One of them is José Carlos Rojas, who stated that they have taken him very seriously. “We came to win gold medals. We have worked very hard. I know that we are going to achieve it. We have been preparing for three months already in Barinas. It has been a very strong preparation. We have had hard training sessions. Everything at a championship level.”

Nelly Fernández has a unique sensation. “It gives you great joy and a pride to represent your country, where teams from all over the world come. We feel a lot of pride, a lot of emotion. For example, we put on the “Vinotinto”, we are counting the days and we come to win medals because we have worked hard for it.”

Ten youth skaters and nine in the senior category are part of the renewed “vinotinto” team, which hopes to leave everything on the track of Ibagué to wave its flag at the top of the World Cup podium
